Oraal ivermectine versus cutaan permetrine-crème bij scabiës

Samenvatting

Scabiës is een groot probleem voor de volksgezondheid in ontwikkelingslanden. De beschikbare middelen ter bestrijding worden grotendeels cutaan toegepast en vereisen nauwgezette behandeling om het gewenste resultaat te bereiken. Tegenwoordig is permetrine-crème 5% de behandeling van eerste keuze bij scabiës. Permetrine is kostbaar en wordt aangebracht op het gehele lichaam en moet gedurende ten minste 8 uur blijven zitten. Dit maakt dat vaak sprake is van een matige therapietrouw waardoor het moeilijk is scabiës onder controle te krijgen bij contactpersonen (vergl. MFM 1997; 35: 156 en 2001; 39: 304).
