Samenvatting

Leptine is een ongeveer vier jaar geleden ontdekt peptide-hormoon dat voornamelijk wordt geproduceerd door adipocyten. De serumleptine-spiegel correleert dan ook sterk met de hoeveelheid lichaamsvet en de body-mass-index (BMI, dat is het gewicht in kg gedeeld door de lengte in meters in het kwadraat) of de Quetelet-index.
