Samenvatting

Het gebruik van antiaritmica heeft belangrijke ontwikkelingen doorgemaakt. Toen bleek dat het gebruik de mortaliteit juist kon verhogen, nam het gebruik toch niet snel af. Inmiddels zijn ’ zo nodig ’ niet-farmacologische technieken eerste keus: elektroregulatie bij atriumfibrilleren, katheterablatie van schadelijke atrioventriculaire verbindingen en implanteerbare defibrillatoren. Antiaritmica, met name van klasse III, zoals amiodaron en sotalol worden dan als adjuvans ingezet.
