Samenvatting

Chronische depressie kent een aanzienlijk percentage van rechutes. Vooral patiënten met ernstige depressie van chronische aard of samengaand met dysthymie ’ de zgn. dubbele depressie ’ lopen een hoog risico. Het advies is om hen blijvend te behan-delen, ook al omdat 25% onder hen reeds binnen twee maanden na stoppen van de medicatie terugvalt. De auteurs onderzochten of sertraline het terugvallen in de depressie kan tegengaan.
