Samenvatting
Nadat met varianten van de methode enkele eerste positieve bevindingen zijn opgedaan bij patiënten met verschillende angst-, stemmings- en gedragsstoornissen, wordt Competitive Memory Training (COMET) beschreven als een methode die wellicht ook succesvol kan zijn bij psychotische patiënten met auditieve hallucinaties. Nadat de methode is uiteengezet, wordt een patiënte beschreven bij wie de behandeling leidde tot vermindering van de problemen. Deze verbetering hield ten minste nog een jaar stand.
Abstract
Since some variants of the method seem to be successful for patients with different anxiety, mood and behavioural problems, Competitive Memory Training (COMET) is now tried with psychotic patients suffering from auditory hallucinations. After a more formal description of the method, a case study is presented. The burden of this patients auditory hallucinations is somewhat reduced by COMET. Some six months later, these results are still maintained, according to the patients own account.
