Abstract

A quasi-analytical method for solving linear compartment models was used to calculate conversion factors between the intake and different measurable quantities such as activities in the whole body, in organs, or in excreta at any time after the intake applicable to an arbitrarily chosen metabolic model These data are useful for interpreting monitoring results and in setting up a routine monitoring programme. The calculations are demonstrated by some examples assuming the model recommended by the ICRP.
