The effect of charged dislocation electric field on colour centres

Abstract

The electric field orginating from dislocations created in ionic crystals by deformation was applied to induce photoconduction. We found that local maxima appeared in the phtoconduction at certain wavelengths characterizing the crystals studied and the value of these maxima was usually higher than the corresponding value obtained in theF band maximum of the given crystal. The phenomenon can be related to the Stark effect of colour centres produced by the internal electric field.

Злектрнческое поле краевого дислокационного происхождения, возникающее в ионных кристаллах при деформации, было использовано для создания фотопроводимости. Было найдено, что фотопроводимость показывает локальные максимумы при различных длинах волн, харктерных для определенных кристаллов. Значение этих максиму мов как правило больше значения максимума вF полосе данного криеталла. Ло всей вероятности явление связано эффектом Штарка, созданным внутренним электрическим полем на центрах окраски.
