On the investigation of voltage surges in Van de Graaff generators

Abstract

This paper presents some results of calculations and model measurements concerning transient voltages occurring in the stack of Van de Graaff generators, subsequent to the spark-overs between the terminal and the earthed tank. The equations giving the transient voltage characteristics and some of their applications are described. The values of capacitances proposed in an earlier work [8] for protection against transients are calculated by a computer for special cases.

В статье приводится изложение о некоторых результатах расчетов и измере. ий с помощью моделей, связанных с неустановившимися перенапряжениями в колонне гене-ратора вследствие иробоев между высоковольтным электородом и котлом генератора Ван де Граафа.

Также описываются характеристики неустановивщихся напряжений и их уравнения в случае некоторых применений. Показывается в некоторых специальных случаях определение при помощи цифровых методов, емкости предложенной раньше [8] для защиты против неустановившихся перенапряжений.
