The radioluminescence of lead chloride

Abstract

The cooled lead chloride which shows a blue luminescence seems in many respects, to have considerable advantages as a scintillator material. However, because of its unfavourable response and poor energy resolution, it cannot be used for gamma-spectroscopic purposes. No activator has so far been found which could render the lead chloride crystal luminescent at room temperature also.

Резюме

Охлажденный хлористый свинец, показывающий голубую люминесценцию, является выгодным сцинтиллируюшим матариалом с разных точек зрения. Однако из-за его малого светового выхода и знергетического разрешения нельзя использовать для гамма-спектроскопии. Не удалось найти такой элемент, который превратил бы хлористый свинец в люминесценцирующий материал и при комнатной температуре.
