On the analysis of distribution functions from radioisotope tracer experiments in tanks in series

Abstract

The parameters, the mean residence time, variance and hold back are generalized to reactors in series. The real residence time distribution functions are given by incomplete gamma-functions and by the mixing constants. The chemical conversion was calculated for non-ideal flow in the case of first-order reactions. The applicability of the introduced para-meters and the validity of the theory have been proved by radioisotope tracer experiments carried out in equipment for alumina production.
