Can cosmic strings and an axial magnetic field coexist in a stationary godel Universe

Abstract

A configuration of cosmic strings immersed in an axial magnetic field is studied in a stationary Godel cosmology. Strings oriented along thez direction require an axial magnetic field to support the resultant geometry while radially directed strings and azimuthal wrapped strings do not require an axial magnetic field to support the geometry but lead to a state of compression in the absence of the magnetic field.
