Carbon-nitrogen metabolism of soil fungi—IV

Influence of carbon sources

  • Published:
Proceedings / Indian Academy of Sciences

Summary

When mat weight and nitrogen in the mat is considered as a criteria of growth, the efficiency of carbon sources is of the same order irrespective of the nature of the nitrogen source in the medium. Fusaria utilize nitrate nitrogen, ammonia nitrogen in the presence of various carbon sources. That nitrogen, metabolism is a function of carbon source is brought out by the different rates of growth and their nitrogen accumulation in the mycelium.
