Summary
Purple blotch disease of onion is a serious trouble in onion-producing countries of the world. In the Punjab State of India, a number of fields have been observed totally destroyed by this disease. Field trials with eleven different fungicides, to check this disease, have indicated that Bordeaux mixture (4:4:50) is the best spray for controlling this disease in the Punjab, and onion variety 53–5 is a potential source for evolving resistant varieties.
