Proceedings of the Indian Academy of Sciences - Section A Aims and scope Submit manuscript

Summary

Resacetophenone condenses with acetoacetic ester in the presence of phosphorus oxychloride giving 4-methyl-6-acetyl-7-hydroxycoumarin. Coumarino-γ-pyrones have been prepared by the Kostaneeki Reaction with this coumarin, as well as its 8-acetyl isomer.
