Summary
Twenty-one birds including fifteen of different species have been studied and Hæmoproteus infection has been registered in three birds, in two of which the parasite has been recorded for the first time.

Family.—Hæmoproteidæ.Genus.—Hæmoproteus.Species.—Hæmoproteus xantholæmi, n.sp.Hosts.—Xantholcema hcemacephala (Indian crimson breasted barbet Syn. Copper smith).Locality.—Reserve forest, Telinkhery, Nagpur, C.P., India.
