Blood urea clearance of mysoreans

Summary

  1. 1.

    The average blood urea clearance of 57 normal Mysoreans between the ages of 19 and 28 years is determined adopting the technique of Molleret al.

  2. 2.

    Urea is determined by the xanthydrol micro method.

  3. 3.

    The averageC m is 46·83 c.c. andC s 35·95 c.c. after correcting for the body surface to 1·73 m2.

  4. 4.

    These values are low as compared with the corresponding figures for Americans but compare favourably with the figures of Gokhale obtained for Indians of the Bombay Presidency.

  5. 5.

    Low protein content of the diet appears to be the chief factor for the low urea clearance.
