The interstitial cells in the testis ofIchthyophis glutinosus Linn.

Summary

The interstitial tissue of the testis ofIchthyophis glutinosus varies in quantity and distribution in the active and resting conditions of the testis. In the former it is in the form of scattered groups of cells in the interstices of the locules, while in the latter it occurs as large number of nests of cells between the locules. Fat is a characteristic cytoplasmic content of the interstitital cell and is believed to have arisen by the activity of the Golgi bodies. The significance of this fat or the general functional significance of the interstitial tissue of the testis is unknown.
