Abstract

A case of bilateral moderate sensori-neural hearing loss due to oral administration of ciprofloxacin is reported. To our best of knowledge so far ciprofloxacin associated hearing loss has not been reported. The hearing loss recovered gradually in a period of 4–5 weeks following withdrawal of the drug. Traditionally, the known side effects of ciprofloxacin are not serious in nature and reversible which is true of the hearing loss in the present case. Awareness of this side effect is of paramount importance and further reports are awaited in this regard.
