Modification of Transverse Tracheo-Oesophagoplasty (construction of a neo-larynx)

Abstract

Stenosis/closure of the neoglottis in the neolarynx flowing Transverse Trachooesophagoplasty operation is an unfortunate sequela in a number of cases. A modification of the operation is offered which prevents the above. An explanation is presented for the mechanisms by which aspiration into the trachea is prevented during swallowing and vomiting.
