Summary

I. V. Meperdine was used as an analgetic in dosage from 100–200 mgm., I. V. for per-oral Endoscopies 100 in number in conjunction with local anesthesia. The advantages noted were muscular relaxation, state of mild Euphoria with perfect co-operation and total anesia of the procedure. It is suitable to be used as an office procedure, as patient can leave the office after 2–3 hours. No particular disadvantage was noticed except stopping of breathing in two cases, which was promptly treated.
