Abstract
Neutron diffraction studies of the suboxides of titanium have established that Ti2O, Ti3O, and Ti6O all exhibit ordered arrangements of the oxygen atoms in the octahedral voids of hcp titanium. The ordered arrangements were detected in Ti2O and Ti3O in the as-cast and annealed states and for Ti6O only in the annealed state. These findings are supported by the compositional dependence of several physical properties in the system previously reported in the literature.
