Abstract
Unter dem Stichwort „Integrierte Kommunikation“ wird häufig diskutiert, dass in verschiedenen Medien, die Werbung für ein und dasselbe Werbeobjekt, z.B. für eine Marke, transportieren, gleiche oder zumindest ähnliche Werbeelemente enthalten sein sollen (Bruhn 1995, S. 40; Esch 1997). Dabei handelt es sich um bestimmte Grafiken (z.B. Werbefiguren wie der „Haribo Goldbär“, der in TV-Spots und auf dem Produktetikett auftritt) und Slogans (z.B. Aussagen wie „Die zarteste Versuchung, seit es Schokolade gibt“ von Milka im Internet, in Printanzeigen etc.). Diese Werbekonstanten werden in der Werbewirkungsforschung auch als Advertising retrieval cues (im Folgenden kurz: ARC) bezeichnet, wenn es ihre Verwendung ermöglicht, dass sich Rezipienten an früher bereits gesehene Werbung für dieses Werbeobjekt erinnern. In diesem Beitrag wird zuerst erläutert, welche Theorien zur Wirkung von ARC in der Literatur formuliert werden. Daraus werden Hypothesen abgeleitet. Sodann wird der Stand der empirischen Forschung zu dieser Thematik dargestellt. Wir beschreiben acht Experimente anderer Autoren und fassen ihre Erkenntnisse zusammen. Weiterhin ergänzen wir diese Forschungsrichtung um die Befunde aus vier neuen Experimenten, um die Hypothesen zu prüfen. Abschließend leiten wir aus dem Stand der bisherigen Forschung und den Ergebnissen der neuen Experimente Folgerungen für die Werbepraxis und die weitere Forschung ab.
