Summary
The management of a patient with a past history of physical/sexual abuse is a long and intricate process that may take years to complete. Unfortunately, the associated somatisation and pathological breakdowns will complicate the process even further. However, with the pelvic floor being a physical and emotional whole optimal intervention by a specialized team that is suitable to address the inseparable complexity of this unfortunate trauma will ensure recovery and a pain-free life, body and mind.
