271 phenolphthalein tests (Woldman) were performed on 206 patients in order to determine the value of the procedure in detecting the presence of ulceration of the gastro-intestinal tract.

173 patients with active pulmonary tuberculosis and 33 non-tuberculous patients were studied. 33 of the series had post-mortem examinations.
