Abstract
The diploid number ofO. roylei is 62. The resulting karyotype morphology suggests the inclusion ofO. roylei, together withO. rufescens, O. macrotis andO. rutila, in the 2nd cytotaxonomic group of Vorontsov and Ivanitskaya, 1973. This grouping also meets systematic and biogeographic considerations.
