Abstract
The diffraction of an electromagnetic wave across an aperture which is bounded by joints of uniform or nonuniform resistance, is studied with the aid of a numerical code based on the Method of Moments. For a joint of uniform resistance, the results obtained are in good agreement with the analytical results produced by the Casey model. To our knowledge, no model exists for joints in which resistance is not evenly distributed. In this case, the results obtained using the numerical code demonstrate that the attenuation of the equivalent dipole decreases until, beyond a certain frequency, it reaches a constant value. This is in contrast to the case of the uniform joint where the dipolar attenuation behaves as a first-order low-pass filter.
