Probabile funzione dei tricomi stellati in alcune angiosperme

Abstract

During the brief springtime period of about two or three weeks which characterizes the growth of the leaf, its metabolism is very accelerated with respect to that of the adult leaf. Utilizing leaves ofTilia, we tested experimentally and theoretically the hypothesis that some types of trichoms, such as the starred trichoms present inTilia, Hedera-belix, Platanus, etc., could constitute, in the first stages of development, an efficient support system to the function of the stomata in order to facilitate the H₂O evaporation processes and the atmospheric CO₂ absorption.

Nel breve periodo primaverile di circa due, tre settimane che caratterizza la crescita della foglia, il metabolismo è molto accelerato rispetto a quello della foglia adulta. Utilizzando le foglie di tiglio viene vagliata sperimentalmente e teoricamente l’ipotesi ehe alcuni tipi di tricomi, come i tricomi stellati presenti inTilia, Hedera-helix, Platanus ecc, possano costituire, nei primi stadi dello sviluppo, un efficiente sostegno alla tunzione degli stomi per facilitare i processi di evaporazione dell’H2O e di assorbimento della CO2 atmosferica.
