Additional information

Several requests have been made to Dr Anthony Bassier, New York City, to reprint his article, “The History of Gastroenterology, published in the Review of Gastroenterology, March, 1934. In this article is an accurate account of men and events, especially those pertaining to the establishment of the Section on Gastroenterology and Proctology of the American Medical Association. In the historical reports made during the time of the Centennial meeting of the A.M.A. at Atlantic City, three organizations reported on this momentous occurrence of Gastroenterology and Proctology, two of them so erroneously that the record up to 1934 should be straightened out. —Editor.
