Résumé
L’ictère est caractérisé par une coloration jaune des téguments liée à une fixation de bilirubine en excès sur le collagène. Manifestation banale au cours de la première semaine de vie, l’ictère physiologique est une hyperbilirubinémie non conjuguée apparaissant après 24 heures de vie, généralement inférieure à 300 µmoles/L et décroissant spontanément en deux semaines. Dans certaines circonstances, l’ictère peut être grave et dangereux au plan neurologique particulièrement. Une prise en charge médicale et biologique stricte du nouveau-né est alors indispensable pour poser le diagnostic étiologique de l’ictère, pour en évaluer la gravité et pour le suivi thérapeutique [1].
