Abstract
This paper presents an analysis of experimental observations of subscriber repeat attempts and subscriber patience in relation to the postdialling delay. The analysis includes, in particular, an investigation of the influence of the interval between successive attempts and the author derives estimates of the probability distributions of the subscribers’ patience. The results concern local, trunk and international calls made by certain subscribers on a Paris exchange.

Cet article présente l’analyse d’observations expérimentales relatives à la répétition d’appels par les abonnés et à la patience de ceuxci durant l’attente après numérotation. On étudie, en particulier l’influence de l’intervalle entre deux tentatives successives et on établit des estimations des lois de probabilités décrivant la patience des abonnés. Ces résultats concernent les appels locaux, interurbains et internationaux émanant de certains abonnés d’un central parisien.
