The influence of mucoitinsulfuric acid on peptic digestion

  • Experimental Physiology
  • Published:
The American Journal of Digestive Diseases

Summary

Mucoitinsulfuric acid, isolated from canine gastric juice or from commercial gastric mucin, inhibits the peptic activity of various commercial preparations of pepsin and in most cases also the peptic activity of gastric juice. The mechanism of this effect and the possiblerôle of the mucoitinsulfuric acid present in the gastric juice are discussed.
