Analyse
Abstract
In a few previous articles, the author recently proposed and expanded a relativistic information model which is basically a theory of the triplet (S,I, R)where Sdenotes the system which is being observed by the observer R,and Ithe information content which is involved in the observation process. This model deals explicitely with syntax and semantics in terms of the observer R.
The purpose of this paper is on one hand, to derive the relativistic model by merely using a linguistic analysis of the communication process, and on the other hand to introduce a subjectivity concept in the Shannon theory. The author analyzes the communication processes in the presence of syntax and semantics and proposes a model with a commutative diagram quite similar to the basic diagram of the catastrophe theory. Then, by interpreting this diagram in the Shannon formalism, that is to say by introducing semantic and syntactic entropy, the relativistic information is once more derived, but in a subjectivistic context that time. At this stage, the asymmetry between information and uncertainty is exhibited, and after a direct comparison, Renyi entropy appears to be subjective entropy. Lastly the problem of encoding in the presence of subjectivity is examined and the results are compared with those of Shannon. An encoding method using the Faddeev’s equation is proposed.
