Analyse
Abstract
This paper compares several time-frequency representations on non-stationary random signals which are generated by models with jumps at unknown instants. The representations which are investigated are: shorttime Fourier transform, Wigner-Ville distribution, and two parametric representations, autoregressive models and time-dependent or evolutionary autoregressive models. The evaluation of these methods is performed through simulations, on synthetic signals generated by an autoregressive model which is commuted at a given instant towards a second autoregressive model. The results of these simulations show the superiority with respect to this criterion, of the adaptive parametric methods, as well as of the short-time Fourier transform.
