Abstract

Tympanosclerosis consists of whitish firm masses of hyaline deposits which can occur in any part of the middle ear cleft in the subepithelial layer of mucous membrane and lamina propria of the tympanic membrane. There is an increased awareness about this condition with the use of the microscope in ear surgery. The present paper discusses the observations made on twelve patients having tympanosclerosis in the light of the available literature. The surgery gave improvement in seven out of twelve cases (58.3%).
