Abstract

29 Cases of tonsillectomy and adenoidectomy were studied for their serum immunoglobulin profile in pre and postoperative period along with ten age and sex matched controls. The results showed a highly significant increase in Ig G in preoperative period in all cases as compared to controls. The Ig A also showed slight increase but no significant change was observed in Ig M values. In the post-operative period values came back to near control levels. Tonsillectomy alone or combined with adenoidectomy did not show a significant difference in immunoglobulin profile.
