Abstract

When the saliva of the patient suffering from Oral Submucous Fibrosis (O.S.M.F.) was mixed with the plasma of the same patient and plasma of two other control persons, and incubated at 37°C, strong fibrin producing factor was detected in the saliva of OSMF patient, with an elevated plasma fibrinogen level, precipitable fibrinogen at 37°C and cryoprecipitate containing fibrinogen and immunoglobulin IgG.

The presence of elevated fibrinogen level and precipitable fibrinogen at 37°C and 4°C is also found in other patients suffering from OSMF (unpublished data).
