Myringo-malleolabyrinthopexy

Abstract

Myringo-malleolabyrinthopexy was done in 25 patients. A majority of the patients were revision stapedectomy cases and the others were cases of chronic suppurative otitis media. Teflon piston was the commonly used prosthesis (15 cases). In the others wire prosthesis, ossicles and cartilage strut were used. There was significant hearing improvement in 64 per cent of the patients. Sensori-neural hearing loss developed in 12 per cent of the cases.
