Abstract

The present investigators measured the noise levels in a large textile factory and auditory thresholds of 500 subjects each in ‘noisy’ and ‘non-noisy’ areas. Fairly high and potentially damaging General Noise Levels were observed in the Textile Industry. Subjective rating of degree of hearing loss did not correlate with the audiometric findings. Hearing conservation programme must be initiated at the earliest to avoid this incurable but preventable hearing loss.
