“MISI” an etiologic factor in oral submucous fibrosis

Abstract

The incidence of oral submucous fibrosis is high in Eastern Uttar Pradesh. The females were found affected four times more frequently than the males. ‘Misi’ was found to be the main causative factor among them. The chemicals in this substance, are a source of constant irritation. The use of ‘Misi’ should be discouraged as a preventive measure.
