Abstract
Patients with malignant laryngo-pharyngeal lesions respond poorly to any method of treatment, as compared to those with lesions of the glottis. A laryngeal surgeon should redefine his role in the treatment of the lesions in this region visavis the radiotherapist. The advanced knowledge of histopathology by serial sectioning of the whole organ and the improved knowledge about the nature of spread of the disease is focussing new light on the management of these lesions.
