Abstract
Description ofSycidium volborthi eijelicum nov. subsp. and S. cf.reticulatum G. Sandberger from the Middle Devonian of the Eifel mountains. Both species show distinct and regularly arranged systems of pores. The new class Sycidiphyceae (Charophyta?) is proposed. Short discussion on the systematic position and the ecology ofSycidium.
