Die virgatipartite Rippenienheit tritt schon im unteren Unterkimeridgium bei Vertretern der GattungenLithacoceras, Ataxioceras undKatroliceras auf; sie entwickelt sich hier sowohl aus monoschizotomen als auch aus polygyraten und polyploken Rippen-typen.
