From the reasons stated, although there is no proof, the evidence indicates that:

There is a factor carried byG. striatum which, in the presence of cytoplasm ofG. Endressi, causes petalloidy of the anthers.

There is autohexaploid segregation of flower colour inG. sanguineum.
