Summary
An account is given of a number of hybrids between various species ofDigitalis. In some cases hybrids were easy to obtain, in others very difficult. In this respect there may be a marked difference between reciprocal crosses, e.g.D. ambigua ×D. purpurea. Though many of the hybrids were sterile it was found that some, e.g.D. ambigua ×D. lanata andD. lanata ×D. ferruginea, were able to give rise to a fertileF 2 generation. In most of the hybrids a few pollen grains were capable of germination.
