Endoscopic method for obtaining gastric and colorectal mucosa for LDH isoensymes determination

Méthode endoscopique de détermination des isoenzymes LDH sur muqueuses gastriques et colorectales

Summary

We described a method for obtaining by endoscopy gastric and colorectal mucosal samples for determination of LDH isoenzyme electrophoretic pattern. An average of ten gastric or colonic biopsies taken by means of the fiberendoscope are needed. The amount of rectal tissue obtained via the rigid proctosigmoidoscope is higher and only one sample is enough. The clinical value lies mainly in the follow-up of premalignant lesions, early diagnosis of cancer and control of cancer relapse after surgery.

Résumé

Les auteurs décrivent une méthode de prélèvements de muqueuse gastrique ou colorectale en vue de la détermination électrophorétique des isoenzymes LDH. La méthode nécessite au moins dix prélèvements biopsiques, gastriques ou coliques par voie fibroendoscopique. En raison de la taile plus grande des échantillons tissulaires, une seule biopsie rectale obtenue par proctosigmoïdoscope rigide est suffisante.

La valeur clinique des dosages des isoenzymes LDH concenres principalement la surveillance des lésions précancéreuses, le diagnostic précoce du cancer et l'évaluation des rechutes après traitement chirurgical.

Resumen

Se describe la técnica endoscópica de obtención de muestras del estómago, colon y recto para estudio del isoenzymograma de la LDH. Se necesitan alrededor de diez biopsias gástricas o del colon, obtenidas a través del endoscopio flexible. La cantidad de tejido que se obtiene con la pinza del rectoscopio es mayor y una sola biopsia es suficiente. Las aplicationes clínicas más importantes son el control de las lesiones premalignas, el diagnóstico precoz del cancer y la detección precoz de la recidiva neoplásica tras cirugía.
