Endoscopic treatment of Zenker's diverticulum

Traitement endoscopique du diverticule de Zenker

Summary

The technique of endoscopic treatment of hypopharyngeal diverticula is described. The results with number and type of complications in 274 endoscopically treated patients (including 6 patients with a recurrent diverticulum after transcutaneous surgery) are reported. The results obtained seem to confirm that endoscopic treatment of a hypopharyngeal diverticulum is to be preferred to an external surgical approach.

Résumé

La technique du traitement endoscopique du diverticule œsophago-pharyngien est décrite. Les résultats sont rapportés avec le nombre et le type des complications observées chez 274 malades traités endoscopiquement (série comportant 6 malades porteurs d'une récidive de diverticule après traitement chirurgical par voie externe). Les résultats obtenus semblent confirmer la supériorité du traitement endoscopique d'un diverticule œsophago-pharyngien par rapport à l'abord chirurgical.
