Role of ileocolonoscopy in diagnosis and follow-up at inflammatory bowel disease

  • Published:
Acta Endoscopica

Summary

Ileocolonoscopy has a high accuracy in the detection and differentiation of various forms of inflammatory bowel disease.

The main differential still centers around ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease.

Ileocolonoscopy has also increasingly been used in the evaluation of the value of different therapeutic regimes and in screening for malignancy in patients with longstanding ulcerative colitis.
