Progrès concernant la découverte du “cancer au début” de l'estomac

Résumé

Depuis 1965, le diagnostic de cancer précoce de l'estomac a été, en Allemagne et en Europe, plus souvent porté.

Dans la statistique établie à ce sujet à Erlangen jusqu'au 31 décembre 1976, on note: 79 malades sont sour surveillance régulière.

Dans certains centres allemands, il y a plus de 10% de cancers précoces de l'estomac parmi les malades opérés d'un cancer de l'estomac.

Le cancer de l'estomac à son stade initial a aussi en Allemagne un pronostic favorable.

Le taux des survivants à 5 ans est à Erlangen de 72% en comprenant la mortalité post-opératoire (±13%).

Une amélioration dans le diagnostic précoce du cancer de l'estomac peut être apportée en premier lieu par l'extension des indications de la gastroscopie aux malades présentant une symptomatologie douloureuse mais aussi aux patients à haut risque, cancéreux asymptomatiques.

Summary

Since the late sixties early gastric carcinoma is diagnosed with increasing frequency in Germany and Central Europe. The Erlangen Early Gastric Carcinoma Registry comprises up to December 31, 1976 79 patients which are followed-up in regular intervals. At certain German surgical centers the proportion of early carcinomas among the gastric cancers resected exceed already 10 per cent. The prognosis of early gastric carcinoma is excellent in Germany, too: 5-year-survival rate at Erlangen is 72% (±13%) including postoperative mortality. Further improvement in early diagnosis of carcinoma of the stomach will be achieved by extension of the indication for gastroscopy in symptomatic patients and by gastroscopy in asymptomatic high-risk-groups.
