Summary
Because of its being a cutaneo mucous area, the anus can be the seat of various affections, mostly in tropical areas where specific or non specific affections may have an exacerbated pathogenic action at times.
It can also be the seat of parasitic pathology: amoebiasis, schistosomiasis, strongyloidiasis or filariasis. Bacteria and mycosis (tuberculosis, mycetoms) may be found there, as well as sexually transmitted diseases such as: soft chancre, donovanosis, Nicholas Favre’s disease.
AIDS may contribute to the development of ulcerous pathology, related to the cytomegalovirus or to (general) herpes virus. The viral or malignant proliferatic lesions may also be found there. It is the panorama of anal and perianal pathology in tropical areas that is considered in the present abstract.
