Inferior turbinectomy for nasal obstruction review of 75 cases

Conclusion

  1. 1.

    98% of the patients had improved airway after surgery.

  2. 2.

    All the patients with hyposmia had increased sensitivity to smell following surgery.

  3. 3.

    80% of the patients with asthma and hypertrophied inferior turbinates benefited considerably with surgery as they had marked reduction in the frequency of asthmatic attack.

  4. 4.

    In our study no cases of ozaena had been reported.

  5. 5.

    There were no complications except for 3% of patients with epistaxis and synechiae.

  6. 6.

    Patients with allergic symptoms had significant reduction in their sneezing attacks.

  7. 7.

    8% of the patients reported mild dryness of the nasal cavity after surgery.

  8. 8.

    8% of the patients also noticed not much improvement in their nasal discharge after surgery.
